Getting to Pedal Power 2008


By train
    Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor, Coast Starlight, San Joaquin and California Zephyr trains serve the Sacramento Valley Station in downtown Sacramento, 401 I Street (corner of 5th and I streets). Bus, light rail and taxi service are available from the station.
Amtrak offers several options for traveling with your bicycle

By air
    Sacramento International Airport is located about 11 miles north of downtown Sacramento. You can reach downtown Sacramento via Yolobus, SuperShuttle, taxi or rental car.
    Yolobus offers public bus service between the airport and downtown Sacramento (as far east as 15th Street). Fare: $1.50. Transfer to Sacramento Regional Transit: $.75. All Yolobus busses accommodate bicycles. Schedules and route maps are available at their website, or call (530) 666-2877.
    SuperShuttle provides on-demand van service for Sacramento International Airport. Pick-up areas are located in the ground transportation area adjacent to the baggage area at Terminal A and across from the airport hotel at Terminal B. Fare: approximately $14 for the first person and, if traveling in a group, $8 for each additional person. Reservations: (800) 258-3826.
    Taxis are located in the ground transportation area adjacent to the baggage area at Terminal A and across from the airport hotel at Terminal B. One-way fare to downtown Sacramento is about $27 (20% off for seniors and military personnel). Reservations and info: (916) 457-4862. Customer service: (916) 874-0888.
    Seven rental car companies operate from Sacramento International Airport. Take the Rental Car Terminal Shuttle to the Rental Car Terminal

By car
From I-5 North and South: Exit at J Street and continue east. Public parking structures nearest to Pedal Power 2008 venues are located on I Street between 10th and 11th streets, 13th Street between J and I streets, H Street between 14th and 15th streets, and L Street between 10th and 11th streets. From I-80 West: Exit onto Capitol City Freeway (just west of Madison) and continue west toward downtown Sacramento. Just west of El Camino, exit onto Hwy. 160 and continue west. Just past the American River Hwy. 160 becomes 12th Street leading into downtown Sacramento. Look for parking at the locations listed above.
From I-80 East: From the east end of the Yolo Causeway, continue east on the Capitol City Freeway toward Sacramento (not I-80 to Reno). Exit at 1-5 North (Redding) and follow the directions for I-5 above.
From US 99 North: Take the San Francisco/Redding exit, continue west, and take the I-5 North (Redding) exit. Follow the directions for I-5 above.


Using public transit in downtown Sacramento
Sacramento Regional Transit's bus and light rail system serves all Pedal Power 2008 venues and is accessible to bicyclists . All Pedal Power 2008 venues are within RT’s Central City area where bus and train fares are $1 and transfers are $.25.
